#4470. Custom Dread with Premium Brazilian and Premium
Adirondack. Tortoiseshell Body, neck and head
binding. Here is something different. Our friends
at Martin Music ordered picked out this set of Brazilian and
trimmed it in our Tortoiseshell binding with a purfling of the
tiniest white/ black line to set it off. These little
things are what makes a difference. Check out the figure
in the Brazilian headstock veneer and the deep, rich
pattern picked to show off the Tortoise binding on the
thick Premium Tor-tis pickguard. Did you know that Dana
decides these details? Along with the big decisions
(like which set of top wood gets matched with which back
wood), he decides which headstock veneer and which
pickguard would best compliment the overall look.

thousand words.

#4373. IBMA #2 of 6. Vintage OM in Adirondack
& Pao Rosewood. This guitar was the sleeper of the
show. You might imagine at a Bluegrass Show, an OM

African Pao Rosewood set used on this guitar made it LOUD and
rich and one of the best OM's we've heard.
|

#4113. The BK (Banjo Killer) Slope D with Pale Sunburst. Premium
Bearclaw Sitka Spruce and Figured Mahogany. Built for
the NAMM show. This guitar is
inspired by the famous guitar built for Bryan Sutton that he
dubbed "The Banjo Killer". Just like the original,
it features Ivoroid body & neck binding and an unbound
Brazilian Rosewood Headstock veneer. Click on the pictures
above to see a close-up of the Brazilian Fingerboard
and Belly bridge. This one features a beautiful Custom
Pale Sunburst.
Dana says: "
The BK Slope D has a deep, broad tone. Through wood selection
and voicing, we push it in the direction of a bigger bottom
end, a "lush" top end, and greater volume, similar
to the characteristics of Bryan's original BK. When I first
started making slope shouldered Dreadnoughts, I went for
something as different as possible from the balanced and
focused sound of my standard Dreadnought. The Banjo Killer
gets me back to that original idea."
|

|
#6534. DB Signature D. Another Austin NAMM
guitar. Wonderfully
straight grained Brazilian Rosewood and premium Eastern Adirondack spruce.
Curly Maple body binding, Dana's Signature multicolor herringbone
purfling and Signature wood rosette, IVORY square and diamond inlay
and ebony belly bridge. 1 and 23/32" nut width, GOLD Waverlies, bone pins.
Remember, all
of the wood for each guitar is still hand-picked by Dana
Bourgeois himself. That's a big part of what
makes our guitars what they are.
|
#4070. Custom Slope D . The Bourgeois Blues. The Bourgeois Blues is an all mahogany, modified ladder braced Jumbo, made for spanish and bottleneck style playing. The ladder bracing gives a big fundamental tone, long on midrange "honk" and short on overtones, the mahogany top a dry, whiny, "Paris, Texas", kind of voice. Though the action is set a little higher than our standard guitars to avoid rattling with the bottleneck, this guitar also works great
for spanish style playing, with a sound appropriate for honky tonk or country style blues. Steve Miklas at Acoustic Music
Works worked hard to come
up with the ultimate specs for this guitar. The Figured
Mahogany was picked for TONE as was the Brazilian
Rosewood fingerboard and bridge. Koa Binding on
the neck, head and body. Snakewood buttons on Gold
Waverly tuners.
|
#6516 VOM Cutaway with Adirondack

JOM Deluxe. Premium Madagascar & Premium
Adirondack. The rest of the specs are as a Vintage D:
Ivoroid & Herringbone binding, Square headstock, Squares
and diamonds inlay. With Bone pins, Premium pickguard
and Nickel Waverly tuners. This is an original body
shape by Dana and a very versatile instrument.
|
#6544. 12
Fret OMS Custom Sunburst. One of a kind made especially for
the Austin NAMM Show. Adirondack and Cuban
Mahogany. Koa body binding is wonderfully matched by
Snakewood buttons on the Bronze Engraved Waverly tuners.
We had a rare opportunity to buy some very old Cuban Mahogany
and Dana was delighted with the tone. He said:
"...this Cuban Mahogany is denser than South American Mahogany and tends to lean a little towards the rosewoods in tone. Fundamentally *mahogany* but with more mid-range fullness & a quicker response."
|

|
#5839. Custom Advanced Slope D Quilted Maple &

it is just as dry and mid-rangy as can be... and somehow it

opening Riff of PINBALL WIZARD. Snakehead headstock.
Bourgeois backstrip. Triple bound Ivoroid binding on
body, neck and headstock. 1 23/32 nut width. Nickel Waverlies. Bone bridge & end pins. Tor-tis

# 6080. The new Celtic Style
JOM with a Cutaway. Figured Walnut back and sides and Cedar
top. Figured maple bindings. Dana's new Celtic
Knot fingerboard design inlaid in Bone. Click here
to learn all about this new model.
|
#5896. Custom
JOM Celtic. Prototype for new our new Model
first shown at the 2005 NAMM show.
The CS-JOM. The Bourgeois Celtic Style JOM is designed and voiced for full, ring-y,
woody-toned tambres, lingering overtones and a snappy attack. We think this is
the ideal tonal signature for a variety of Celtic guitar styles, including
fingerstyle in DADGAD and other open tunings as well as "bouzouki-style" rhythm.
The CS-JOM's Gaelic temperament results from the unique combination of a Western Red Cedar top and flamed Black Walnut back and sides on a medium-sized body, and bracing modifications developed specially for this model. This
distinctive guitar is further enhanced by a new Celtic Knot fretboard
inlay designed by Dana, inspired by border designs from the "Book of
Kells" and executed in certified Mammoth Ivory. Additional appointments include
abalone rosette, curly maple body, fretboard and headstock binding,
Bourgeois backstrip, and Gold/Ebony Waverly tuners. Guaranteed to make you
want green beer all year long.
|
#5721. Advanced
Slope D/ Cherry Burst. NAMM GUITAR. Adirondack
and Figured Beeswing Mahogany
back and sides. Ivoroid body, neck & headstock
binding. Bourgeois Snakehead Ebony veneered headstock
with a Floral fretboard Inlay. Fire-stripe Greven pickguard. Ebony Belly bridge. Nickel Ivoroid
Waverly tuners.
|
#5921. Custom Slope D.
Madagascar Rosewood. Tiny dot inlay. Dana's
comments on madagascar: "Madagascar rosewood will
probably get you closest to the sound of Brazilian, and at a
much lower price. Madagascar has much of the same rich
overtone range as Brazilian, as well as a slightly "reverby"
quality. It's a little heavier than Brazilian, so I have to be
careful about selecting the right top and the right neck in
order to keep the weight down and not adversly effect its
response characteristics.
