Standard Dreadnought

The Standard Dreadnought is exactly the same as our Vintage D with the exception of the Master Grade Sitka Spruce top.

Quartersawn Sitka is quite stiff along and across the grain; high stiffness, combined with the relatively light weight characteristics of most softwoods, is a recipe for high velocity of sound. A strong fundamental-to-overtone ratio gives Sitka a powerful, direct tone that is capable of retaining its clarity when played forcefully. Sitka is an excellent choice of topwood, then, for players whose style demands a wide dynamic response and a robust, meaty tone.

To maintain a vintage look, we select only the highest grade of East Indian rosewood, perfectly matched and quartered with tight, straight grain and darker-than-average color.  To round out the visual package, the Vintage Dreadnought also features herringbone top trim, ivoroid body binding, slotted squares and diamonds inlay, vintage tortoiseshell pickguard, vintage-style top toner, and nickel Waverly tuners.

Except as noted, all Bourgeois models include the following features:
25.5" Scale Length, One piece Mahogany Neck,  Bone Nut & Saddle, Ebony Fretboard & Bridge, High Gloss Body and Satin Neck Finish, Mother of Pearl Bourgeois headstock inlay, Bourgeois Premium Tortoiseshell style pickguard, Ivoroid Bridge and End Pins, Deluxe Hardshell Case and a Limited Lifetime Warranty.  A variety of optional tonewoods, appointments, hardware and finishes are also available.

Available through one of our fine retailers.
